Topic: Victory in Jesus
Sermon Text: I Corinthians 15:35-57
I welcome you all to today’s service which happens to be
Youth Sunday. Due to the pandemic ravaging our world, I believe our General Overseer has taken a step
in the right direction to ensuring we are still awakened to spiritual activities.
It is no doubt that
a lot of spiritual souls will die during this inadvertent holiday from almost every spheres of life
activities.
But as true Christians, we must understand that these are merely signs of the end time
hurriedly approaching. Please note – this is not the Rapture as some ignorant Christians have been rumoring
about.
This is Easter and we shall be talking about Resurrection of
Our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
Without death there can be no resurrection.
We see people joking about death. But there comes a time
when death is not a laughing matter.
When death threatens someone you love, or when it threatens
you... nobody laughs. That's because death can be a scary thing. In fact, Hebrews 2:15 tells us about
people “... who through fear of death were subject to lifelong slavery.”
A seed has got to die before it reawakens to a life of
fruitfulness. For us to be completely ready to be part of the kingdom of heaven, we must leave behind our
earthly cloak (which means we must die someday, sometime, somewhere) and put on the spiritual body.
Our activities here on earth will now be the determining factor as to whether we will put on the
spiritual body that leads to Eternal Life of Joyous Activities after death or Eternal Suffering after
death.
You see, we were created in the image of God. We were never
made to die. It's not normal, it's not fair. It's not the
way things should be.
But things are like that now, we will all die... and unless
we have the hope of resurrection death will continue to be terrifying and
devastating.
True Christians should have strong believe in the death of
Christ – that His death has taken away the
sting of death and the victory of the grave as it can be
seen in I Corinthians 15:55.
Moving forward on this,
we can see in verse 56 that the sting of death is sin....
Therefore, Christians must be spiritually conscious at all
times to run away from sin and understand
the need to abstain completely from sin to keep hope of
eternity alive till Christ come for us all.
In conclusion, if Christ had not risen, there would have
been no celebration. Let us therefore rejoice and celebrate the death and the rising of Christ in total
humility and sobriety. Let us in our various homes celebrate Him as we also observe the #StayHome
#StaySafe the government has instructed us.
This is but a phase and it shall pass soon. Happy Easter to
Us All. God Bless!
